I found it fitting to call my friend Romeo Durscher, The Adventurer Guru, for good reason.

Romeo has traveled the world many times over from far away places, like Vietnam, China, Europe, Russia and South Korea.

I met Romeo on Facebook, during his employment with NASA, technical specialist with Little SDO, NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory keeping a close eye on the solar activity of our Sun. Romeo was also a big part of STEM, encouraging kids to pursue a career related to Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics.

Most recently, Romeo has taken on another adventure, as Educational Director for DJI Global, operated and owned by Frank Wang since 2006.

Within a month, his first excursion took him across the world to DJI main headquarters, in Shenzhen, Guangdong, province of China. And not long after, Romeo was taking on the worldly adventure deep within the jungles of Vietnam.

You most likely saw Romeo's adventure on Good Morning America with host Ginger Zee, chief meteorologist at ABC News. As a matter of fact, when I wrote this article, Romeo had just spent the last seven days deep within the biggest cave in the world, mastering his skills and representing DJI Drone Global.

30 minutes ago we landed on our Mi-17 helicopter and are now out of the jungle and now at Oxalis Adventure.

I am sitting here eating a steak, stinking like I spent the last seven days in a cave...wait a minute...

For the next few days you will be hearing a lot about my two trips to Son Doong, a hidden wonder world ! This was an amazing project and we all wrote a little bit of history by live broadcasting from deep inside the jungle, with drones providing aerial views.

The entire ABC and DJI team worked wonders to make this happen. And we had the help of the most amazing local people..."

Romeo also adds at the end,"...during the live broadcast...a storm was about to hit and interrupt our cons to New York twice."

Best way to describe Mr. Romeo Durscher?

He's a kindhearted American, Swiss born bachelor from San Jose, California, devoted to his career and friends.

Romeo (truly an avid adventurer) it was a no-brainier, when his long time friend, Mark Johnson introduced him to the DJI drones, filling their thirst for technology and exploring the vast outdoors throughout Europe, United States and Mexico. Before you knew it, their rapid growth of expertise in the field of drones was inevitable.

Closer to home they were scouting the California countryside with this remarkable flying machine. As quoted by DJI, "...it's the most advanced technology, comes together in an easy to use, all-in-one flying platform that empowers you to create the unforgettable."

Mark and Romeo quickly set up their own website, Visual Aerials, educating prospective drone pilots at the Adobe Photoshop World Las Vegas, September 3, 2014.

With my interest in the film industry, it wasn't long before I met Romeo's Mark Johnson myself,(Principal Creative Chief Officer with Visual Law Group and Principal at Fat Monster Films).

Before you know it, I too was following their adventures throughout the social media, sharing their astounding photos on my Facebook Page, Vegas Reviews, a Vegas Lovers paradise of tips and photos.

Romeo is certainly the right candidate as Director of Education for DJI. You can follow him on Twitter @romeoch, along with @DJIGlobal and Instagram.

And be sure his amazing Daily Journal!
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

In the late 1800's a Scottish King, Lord Aberdeen and his Lady came to Canada. Their first visit from Scotland was mostly spent in the eastern Maritimes, but eventually they travel west, discovering Vernon, British Columbia.

It was here the distinguished aristocrats fell in love with the Okanagan Valley. Wasn't long after, they bought the Coldstream Ranch in 1890, settling in Canada once and for all.

Owning Coldstream Ranch, cattle became its main resource of income, until one day, the Scottish King became interested in growing fruit orchards.

But he had a problem.

How were they going to bring the water to grow the orchards?

In order to have fruit orchards, they need lots of water. There was plenty of water around, like the vast 135 km ( 70 miles) long Okanagan Lake, including the once glacier feed turquoise Kalamaka,
"Lake of many Colours" and Swan Lake to the North.

But, back then they didn't have electricity to operate pumps. They had to rely on a gravity system, where water would flow downwards.

After much thought, he convinced his fellow ranchers, like his friend Cornelius O'Keefe, to start building large wooden troughs, known as the Grey and South canals. Ironically, with all the water around them, they decided their best choice of water was from the high lakes above in Monashee Mountains to the east.

Interesting enough, it was Cornelius O'Keefe who convinced settlers to come to the Okanagan in the first place. The tough Irishman was also responsible for the postal service, which ran a stagecoach (BC Express Stage Lines) from Cache Creek, along the dirt road from Fort Kamloops to O'Keefe Ranch.*

This expensive project of building the Grey and South canals, started in 1905, costing a staggering $423,000. In those early days, that kind of money would be equal to 4 million today.

The water was carried down the Monashee Mountains, through the Coldstream Valley, circling Vernon by means of benchlands, to the top of Turtle Mountain. It also crossed along the side hills to help feed, what is today, the Davison Orchards.

I would classify them as the Truth Serum for those interested in staying in Costa Rica for a long period of time, from a few months to possibly becoming a perpetual tourist.

They don't sugar-coat their videos giving the frank approach to the ways of Costa Rica, which is really good to hear. But most importantly they offer cool tour packages throughout Costa Rica.

And, what about their advice on retiring in Costa Rica?

About Retirement in Costa Rica

Retirement for baby boomers, like myself, is a big step to consider. First and foremost, can you afford to retire?

In Canada, it's becoming increasingly more expensive to live on an average expense income around $2500 per month with the understanding YOU are debt free! For those high in debt, working along on society's treadmill, is the only way to survive.

But let's say you have a firm hand on your finances and are ready to retire.

Heading out to a country like Costa Rica will take a lot of planning, not to mention getting use to the Culture Shock.
Don't expect things to be the same as in Canada or United States. The process of getting things done in Costa Rica isn't the expectations we are use to in Canada, so don't get discourage if it takes longer. According to Michael, seventy-five percent of those coming to Costa Rica to retire, end up going back home within a couple months to a few years.

What have I learned from Michael Alan and D'Angelo ?

So, what I have learned from listening to these two cool guys living in Costa Rica, is this...

There are certain Rules to follow, saving you money and heartache.

As Michael explains:

Rule One : Don't listen to websites who's soul purpose is to sell you real estate property in Costa Rica.

Rule Two : Never ever buy anything in Costa Rica until you have rented for at least one year.

After all, Michael gives fair warning, you may not like it in Costa Rica. And then what? You're going to have to sell your property for half the price you bought it.

And who's going to buy it?

An unexpected Gringo; that's us! English speaking naive western tourists.

Rule Three : How to Rent in Costa Rica. It's not a good idea to rent off the internet. It's best to go down to Costa Rica for a two week holiday . Catch up with Michael and D'Angelo who will give you the best places to rent from and where, including re-location tours along with touring packages to suit your lifestyle.

But there's one exception to the rule here, I noticed on one of his YouTube Videos during his interview with one of his friendly expats.* (check below for the meaning to these terms)

The rental rule is still in place, however you can join a community group who already are set-up in a co-op Eco sustainable resort. There are two of these communities, OSA Mountain Village and their sister community, Serenity Gardens Eco Village, by co-founder Jim Gale.

As their website says," The community is located in Costa Rica’s Southern Zone along the pristine Pacific Coast, where the mountains meet the ocean. "

The above gives you a good rule-of- thumb approach. To me, Travel Costa Rica Now, offers sound advice you can take to the bank.

Michael and D'Angelo go on giving a ton of valuable information, including the cost of living in Costa Rica for around $970 (US funds)per month. This includes rent, food, internet, phone, cable and electricity.

This is over half the cost then living in my own country! It means you can live in Costa Rica for a longer period of time with a modest retirement income.

Their interesting blog explains from the Tico* Culture to how to start-up a Bank account.

All the Travel Costa Rica Now YouTube Videos give valuable inside information for those thinking of living in Costa Rica and fun tour package adventures for the whole family.

In conclusion, it's best to give a quote by Michael and D'Angelo,"The good the bad and the ugly of living in Costa Rica with no agenda to sell you anything. Our goal is to offer our perspective, experience and expertise of living in Costa Rica so the folks who go on our tour, by the end, will know whether relocating to Costa Rica is a good idea for them or not.
That's it. "

For those who haven't been to Saskatchewan you will still appreciate this film by TSN.

Our family had the opportunity to live in Southern Saskatchewan for one year in Frontier, just a hop skip and jump to the Montana Border.

At the time we moved from Vernon, British Columbia for work as my trade back then was a draftsman.

My job consisted of producing mechanical plans for farm implements, such as cultivators for the Friggstad company.
The Honeybees now own this massive 100,000 sq ft industrial warehouse. Honey Bee Manufacturing Ltd. is a family owned business that was incorporated in 1979 by brothers Greg and Glenn Honey and their wives.

Back then I had the opportunity to be able to sit in the prototype Honey Bee Tractor. This massive friendly beast of a machine was like climbing 3 stories of a building. Inside it had all the luxuries you could think of including air-conditioning. We were one of the few to sign their log book.

Our family Jim & Pearl McILveen lived on a large farm just east of Frontier.

Coming from B.C. living in Saskatchewan really opened my eyes to what is actually out on the prairies.

I was surprised to see the abundance of wildlife with herds of deer and antelope with a count of over 75 to just one herd. It was a normal occurrence to come up on the back-roads to see the dirt road filled with wildlife. You had no choice but to stop and admire the view. Of course we didn't mind relishing the time and count how many in each herd.

For stargazers Saskatchewan is a cosmic paradise with the only light of night being the stars and the full moon. The milky way would stretch across the open sky as crisp and clear as any 3D Movie.
You have first class seats to experience natures wonderment including the Northern Lights where they even have summer Star Parties in Cypress Hills.

The next impressive spot to visit in Southern Saskatchewan is the Cypress Hills Inter-provincial Park along with Fort Walsh. A lush green mountainous forest in the middle of nowhere. A geological phenomenon stretching an area of 965 sq miles with the highest point at 1468 m above sea level (4816 ft) in comparison to the Rocky Mountains of 4401 m.
Cypress Hills is an isolated gem of mountainous region soaring a good 2000 ft above the surrounding area.
If you haven't heard anything at all about Saskatchewan you would be hard press not to have heard of the prehistoric archaeological discoveries of dinosaurs species dominating in southern region filling over into Montana.
One of the most rewarding opportunities is climbing to the top of mountain range in Alberta, Canada. Looking over the vast rugged country side leaves you content with satisfaction. Here you are at the top of the world walking along the ridge of Starlite Mountain range, precarious peaks within Willmore Wilderness. Willmore Wilderness is the best kept secret, traveling into the provincial park is only by foot, bike or horse. All motorized vehicles are prohibited in order to preserve the raw-land.

The one question that you must ask yourself before you walk into wild country - Are you ready?

Walking into the wilderness with a heavy backpack is in itself an accomplishment; your pack must be carefully planned in advance with the right supplies ready for your trip.

Here is a list of items you should bring with you into the raw wilderness:

Traveling Alberta is a must when visiting Canada. Just last week we decided to stop at Lake Louise in Banff National Park, of course Alberta. After visiting family in British Columbia, our usual route headed directly home due to our schedule, but this time,we had a couple days to explore Lake Louise just a little closer than before.
Lake Louise is nestled within a scenic valley of mountainous peaks, showcasing a clear turquoise glacier lake named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta in 1884. Overlooking the emerald Lake Louise is the famous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Hotel, boasting a five-star experience.

We took to the lake shore memorized by the beauty and awe inspiring picturesque glacier in the distance combined with the brilliance of the bluish green waters. It was obvious our next step was to explore Lake Louise itself by paddling along in a canoe, enjoying the peaceful tranquility of nature.

Pushing off the shoreline, it wasn't hard to observe the depths of the icy crystal clear lake or spotting rainbow trout swimming at their leisure. It didn't matter how icy the water was, the warm summer weather tempted us to dip our feet, feeling this invigorating surge of freshness.

After a long slumbering canoe ride we treated ourselves at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise to a fine dining experience at their four diamond Fairview Dining Room offering tantalizing morsels of Yukon Gold Potato wrapped in crispy wild prawns and mouth-watering seared duck breast in a szechaun peppercorn jus. We couldn't resist the warm liquid centered Chocolate Cake with spiced pineapple carpaccio and raspberry puree.

The National Parks of Canada offer a wild wilderness setting with outdoor adventures to suit anyone.

If we had more time, we certainly would have taken a heli-tour over the majestic Lake Louise.

I highly recommend your next stop at Lake Louise with the Banff National Park of Alberta,Canada. Traveling Alberta is a sweet memorable experience you will cherish forever.
Discovery of Tortilla Flat

While in Las Vegas we love to take tours within Nevada and Arizona. The most interesting discovery is
Tortilla Flat of Arizona.

Tortilla Flat

We rented a car and headed to Mesa, Arizona to visit my family. From there we went along the highway to US 60 East( also known as Superstition Freeway) and along Apache Junction and State Route 88 for 18 miles. Tortilla Flat is just 2 miles past Canyon Lake.

Did you know that Tortilla Flat is noted for the smallest friendliest town in Arizona? It also boasts for having a U.S.Post Office for a such a small population of only 6 people.

The Little Settlement of Torilla Flat

We knew we reached our destination as soon as we noticed the little quaint settlement with its own Superstition Saloon; a real treat to visit. The most interesting attraction was the funny wallpaper pasted with really dollar bills from visitors across the world. And when was the last time your bar seats happen to be horse saddles?

Of course we had to visit the restaurant serving Old West Breakfasts, the hottest Chilis known as the
"Killer Chili", Grande Na-Chos, the famous Chimichanga and the fun Cackleberries Mexicanna Mornin Chow.
Tortilla Flat is like taking a little trip back into the western frontier of the old west. After our rip-torting taste of the "Killer Chili" we mosey on down to the the creaky boardwalk to a stonewall Gift Shop full of nik naks related to the southwest. I'm always picking up a cookbook or two and today was no exception. To me, a cookbook is like a souvenir, just like Canadian Recipes of the Great White North. My eyes quickly zero in on a Southwestern Indian Cookbook that would add to my souvenir collection. They also add quick bites of hot salsa's; of course I had to buy one.

The History of Tortilla Flat

It goes way back with the Indians crossing its most valuable resource - water. It was the prefect place to set-up camp with a small trickling creek known as the Tonto Trail.
It wasn't long before a Spanish explorer named Cabeza de Vaca found his way to the Southwest Superstition Mountain where he met up with the Pueblo Indians who told him of the Seven Cities of Cibola or known as the Cities of Gold. Superstition Mountain has since been rumors of gold. It was believed that the Jesuit Priests of Spain had found a a pocket of gold and didn't have any intention of sharing it with their
Spanish King. The King ordered the Jesuits to be executed, but before they could follow out their plans the Jesuit Priests hide the gold in the Superstition Mountains and throughout the southwestern desert.
Apparently, it is told, in 1847 to 1848 a group of Mexicans under Don Miquel Peralta had found the treasure of gold but were met with Apaches who killed all but one.
To this day, the legend is alive with reports of gold within the Superstition Mountain.

But the real truth of the matter of Tortilla Flat is when a group of cowboys were stranded due to a flash flood, their only staples at the time was flour. They made tortillas and christened the flat, Tortilla

Flat.

And today, Flash flood is still a very real part of the southwestern desert. We couldn't adventure any
further along the road due to a flash-flood just two days before. Tortilla Flat is a true gem to explore
when in Arizona.
<span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}">
Our recent stay at Caesars Palace started with the check-in of our room. Our accommodation was booked as a five day stay with three days complimentary of Caesars Palace due to our Rewards Card membership.
<span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}">

<span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}">(Note: Check out recent reviews for 2014/2015 )
<span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}">
After twenty minute wait within the streamline of customers patiently waiting for their check-in, we were comforted with a friendly staff member. Due to our 31st anniversary we inquired about an upgrade from our complimentary room. She introduced us to an upgrade room of over 2000 sq ft room offering a dining room, three bathrooms, a guest’s entertainment bar, living room and a grand master bedroom. First she offered the room for $100 per night, but her duty manager refused such an offer. She came back to us sheepish, quickly apologizing letting us know that her boss wouldn't allow such a price. We asked if he would accept $150 per night in which he stated he could get a much better price per night. With that, embarrassed by the situation the girl attending to us, asked if we would accept $200 per night. We hummed and hawed over this price, as it was just too much, as I already knew that that our last night, Thursday night, would end up costing us the $170 plus $200 and an additional tax charge. Our Thursday night would cost $500 alone.
My wife voiced her opinion and asked me to go for the upgrade, as it is our 31st anniversary. I decided to please my wives wishes, but still felt it was a little high, but I'm thinking, let the "fun" begin.
<span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}">

<span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}">From past experiences with complimentary rooms, they usually have offered us a deluxe upgrade at no charge.
<span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}">
We were here to enjoy ourselves, so we left it at that, even though I knew our overall costs would be $1800 for just the room for five days. What really caught me off guard were the taxes with each night costing a whopping $100. Our room was enormous and apparently the original cost per night was $3600 per night. Mind you, we really didn't have any use for three bathrooms or a large dining room table.
Originally we were going to use the spa, fitness center and go to three different shows, but after our upgraded costs of our room, we could not afford any of these luxuries.
<span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}">

The next morning we did indulge in the featured Buffet of Buffets at a cost of $34.99 per person for reward card members and $39.99 for non-members. Knowingly we paced ourselves in order to go to all three buffets with Harrah’s Properties. Lago Buffet at Caesars Palace was our breakfast choice and was pleasantly surprised by great friendly service and inviting food for any foodies. You had a choice of freshly-made omelettes, baked ham, turkey or pork bacon, wide range of sausages, assorted seafood & potatoes and a fine selection of pastries.
<span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}">[Note: Lago since 2012 has been upgraded to BACCHANAL Buffet]
Our luncheon choice was going to be at the Paris hotel, but after seeing the overwhelming line-up we jetted over to Planet Hollywood and were glad we did. The Spice Market Buffet at Planet Hollywood featured Mexican, American, Italian and Middle Eastern food items.
<span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}">

<span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}"> I stuck with the American food choices while my wife found fresh hot asparagus in the Italian section. Of course we shared the tasty asparagus while enjoying the beef and chicken dishes. We were seated in front of the Middle Eastern section and if only had room, I would have indulged in the pork kabobs cooking on the bbq. But I did leave room for the tantalizing desserts, like chocolate éclairs.
After a long walk throughout the Vegas Strip we headed to our last buffet of the day, back to the Lago Buffet at Caesars Palace. Our choice of prime rib, crab and peel and eat shrimp, we barely made a dent. Needless to say we were FULL!

Next morning we headed to the pool and found we were lucky to be poolside just before 9:00 am, as it quickly filled up. We decided to indulge into one of the bar drinks at a gasping price of $20 per drink, not including tip; needless to say, we had very few drinks at the pool. We quickly learned that any charges to our room would be topped off by a heavy tax. Mind you, poolside was complete luxury and worth the time taking in the sun rays. Throughout our days at Caesars Palace we took in the pool daily.

Of course we took our turn in the casinos and knowingly spent our budget, but with a couple of noticeable wins. Smartly we re-invested our winnings back into the cost of our room.
<span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}">
On Wednesday, we headed over to our reserved dining experience at the famous Eiffel Tower Restaurant at the Paris Hotel. Within minutes we were seated at our window seat over-looking the Bellagio with its fountain display featuring a beautiful view. Our selection of entrees envisioned a freshly cooked beef wellington with potato gratinee and hot asparagus. Unfortunately our entrees were cold with my beef wellington under-cooked. I summoned our waiter, his eye brows raised as he looked at the raw beef within the pastry. He quickly took it away, with me thinking that I would receive a new freshly baked beef wellington. Astonished by the quick comeback of my dish, I noticed it was placed under a salamander to finish cooking. Oh well, I'm here to have "fun", so I just left it alone and decided to enjoy the chocolate soufflé, which was wonderful.
<span class="messageBody" data-ft="{"type":3}">The food at Caesars Palace is acceptable with friendly service. During the Christmas holidays we step into the grand foyer of the Bellagio in awe as we observed the hand-blown glass flowers peering above the ceiling. We allowed ourselves to appreciate this creative piece of art, a warm welcome into the Bellagio grand lobby.

Our needs were quickly addressed and flawless during our check-in; as a matter of fact Bellagio offered us a free up-grade. The ultra fast elaborate elevators whisked us up to our 27th floor. It wasn't the service we expected and were placed in a very dark location, where we both couldn't even read the menu. The young female server was more interested in serving us drinks, then answering our questions about the menu AND the terrible lights predicament. Due not being able to read the menu in the dark, I asked if they had a cheeseburger. She nodded. We asked for two and left at that. Maybe because we are older folks, her service wasn't particularly the best. The rest of the crowd were mostly in their twenties. Anyway, we left it at that and we won't be back for Mr. Senior Frogs. There are so many restaurants to choose from along the Vegas Strip, there's no point in bothering with bad food or service - just move on.

This also doesn't imply any wrong doing with T.I. Arrival at Excalibur would be described as painless and friendly front staff.
Quick and easy access to our room with friendly staff greeting you within the
hallways.

Rooms:
The rooms on the fifth floor are compared to no-thrills but clean and
functional. Our room had a King size bed with your basic TV and Internet
access. Excalibur charges a daily fee of $9.95 which includes access to the
pool, newspaper daily and Internet.

Update 2014 : Resort Fees are constantly going up.

Excalibur Resort Fees 2014 - $20.16 includes internet, fitness centre and business area. Remember the free drinks to your resort fees? Well, that's history now. And if you use your in-room phone, no charge for local calls. My question is : Who uses in-room phones to make local calls anymore? We all seem to have our own cell phones. Waiting for the day when in-room phones won't exist anymore. Aria Resort and Casino along with Cosmopolitan have new touch screen ipads now to acess all kinds of services. But, yes, the phone is still available.
They also have a business station by Tower II which also provides computer,
fax and business related options. This service was extra and could be charged to
your credit card.

After our arrival we headed into the main casino of Excalibur and found a busy maintained casino.

We headed over to Sherwood Forest Cafe and enjoyed a very satisfying meal
with great service. After our meal we decided to head over to Luxor (easy
access to the second floor) along a indoor path joining Excalibur, Luxor
and Mandalay Bay. You also had to option of taking their free monorail to
the adjoining hotel properties.

Day Two:

After much need rest with no interruptions we made our way back to Sherwood
Forest Cafe for breakfast. We were greeted by a friendly server who made
sure our meal was hot with very little wait. Felt sorry for this guy, so busy with no help.

Our average meal cost $9.95 which
included eggs, toast, hash browns and your choice of bacon, ham or sausages. ( Please Note: Prices are changing constantly)

After a very satisfying meal our day was open to site seeing and getting our
bearings throughout the Vegas strip. Great overhead access walkways lead to
the your choice of MGM Grand, New York New York or Tropicana. We decided on
the MGM Grand, so we could try out the Vegas Monorail.

Entering the mega MGM Grand we were lead down the escalator with the
Rain forest Restaurant on our left side. I must say its a nice theme!

Our task was to find the monorail. After we were lead throughout the MGM
Grand, passing by through the casino floor, around many shops and familiar restaurants, such
as Emeril's, the monorail was found. You can take a short-cut from the Rain Forest restaurant side, by the MGM washrooms.

Quickly we noticed by our sore tired feet, the monorail was a fair distance away, making me question the purpose of the monorail. It was our
belief that the monorail would prevent needless walks. We were wrong. Each
station we were dropped off, we had this long walk before we reached the
Vegas Strip. If only the monorail was easy quick access throughout the
strip.

After our first day of taking the Vegas Monorail it was apparent that the bus
system had better access, but very crowded. Instead of the Vegas Monorail
system in the back of each Vegas property, it would make sense to provide
better access in front of the properties.

We have found the free ARIA Express from the Monte Carlo through to Bellagio had better access to its properties, such as Vdara, Aria, Monte Carlo and Bellagio.

Once again we took our long walk to the Vegas Monorail and proceeded down the
strip to Caesars Palace and Bellagio.

Back to our familiar grounds, we
stepped into the lobby of Caesars Palace greeted by their inviting Christmas
decor. After a long while in Caesars Palace we headed over to Bellagio hope to
find their Christmas Theme in the Bellagio Conservatory Garden, but found
the Thanksgiving Theme instead. It made sense, since Thanksgiving was
today.

The rest of the day was walk, walk, walk, walk, walk, along the Vegas Strip. The strip was busy and crowded due to the Thanksgiving
Day.

Day Four:

Black Friday - Well, what can I say about
Black Friday. In a few words: walk, walk, walk, walk and walk. My wife :
shop, shop, shop and shop. No wonder they call it Black Friday.

Day Five:

Another great breakfast at Sherwood Forest Cafe of Excalibur and we were off
to another day of exploring.

Towards late afternoon we thought we try
Dick's Last Resort, also within Excalibur's property. It looked like a fun place
to catch some great finger foods and satisfying few drinks. To our surprise, it wasn't. We decided to head back to Sherwood Forest Cafe for that friendly service we couldn't find at Dick's Last Resort. Maybe the name "Dick" implies their service.

That same evening we had tickets to see Carrot Top within the Luxor
Properties. The young comedian rewards his guests with a fun performance.

Day Six:

Woke up in our room noticing movement on the wall by the mirror. My wife was
already up and had a closer look. To her surprise the wall was covered with
little ants going about their daily activity. Not too surprising this time
of year, but kind of makes you itch. Not a problem - hurried got dressed and
headed down to front desk. Due to being on the fifth floor, the girl was not too
surprised and quickly moved us to another suite on the third floor.

Some say the ants are attracted by food or sugar, but we had no food items
in the room. Anyway, a small inconvenience and we were once again settled in
another room within an hour.

Day Seven: Uneventful day, had fun and just enjoyed
ourselves.

In Conclusion:

Vegas Reviews would recommend Excalibur as long as you aren't expecting any
thrills. You do have the option of upgrading your room, but this particular
trip we decided it wasn't necessary. Mind you, our overall cost for a seven day trip for two was only $1100. Not bad, considering flight is included.

Update 2014: You would really be hard press to find the above prices as mentioned.

During our stay we had a great time with our enjoyable buffet of prime rib
and turkey at the Round table Buffet where All You Can Feast.

Some tiny problems, but we did have "fun" and that is the main reason for being in Vegas.

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada has always been known as the "Gateway to the North". During the Klondike Gold Rush of 1896. A stampede of folks as far away as Florida traveled up to Dawson City in the Yukon.
The Gold Rush travelers had a choice of two routes, one was to collect the necessary staples in Edmonton before their long hike north.
Today Edmonton is a bustling city with over 1,176,307 blue-collar Canadians. The city of Edmonton is Alberta's provincial capital featuring the Legislature Building over-looking the Saskatchewan
River Valley. During special functions and holidays it's common to hear the loud military cannons
blasting the start of a prestigious ceremony.

Recreation of Edmonton

During the summer months you can look out your window to find a mass of air-balloons floating across the blue open sky of the prairies.
Edmonton is home to the Sports Capital of Alberta offering the famous Edmonton Oilers with past stars like Wayne Gretzky,Mark Messier, Glenn Anderson, Jari Kurri, Paul Coffey, Kevin Lowe, Grant Fuhr and Andy Moog.
Edmontonians are considered sports-minded Canadians, supporting the Edmonton Eskimos,Edmonton Capitals baseball team, the Edmonton Gran Prix, the junior team - Edmonton Oil Kings and the Golden Bears of the University of Alberta.

Best Kept Secret

The best kept secret in Edmonton is the U of A science department making headlines of scientific
discovery from Astronomy to U of A cancer research breakthrough where Dr. Roger Leng unlocked the mystery to why an important genome allows cancer tumors to grow. In 1985 University of Alberta Hospital was the first heart transplant in Western Canada. Edmonton also has one of the best care units for children under the Stollery children's Hospital.Needless to say, Edmonton has one of the most advance medical facilities in Western Canada.

What Can You Do in Edmonton?

If you're not into hockey (considered a crime to Canadians),you have yearly festivals to attend, Fort
Science, the Muttart Conservatory and the Royal Alberta Museum. Edmonton also hosts the Canadian Final Rodeo and only second to Las Vegas National Final Rodeo.

The Cons of Edmonton

Winter months in Edmonton isn't what you call favourable with temperatures dropping from an average of -20 to -40C, but Canadian winter is a lifestyle where hockey is the number one sport.

Mosquitoes during the spring are annoying but all you really need is repellent.

Calgary features a ninety minute trip to Canada's National Parks whereas Edmonton is a three hour trip west to enjoy Jasper National Park, but it's sure worth the trip.

The bike trails throughout Edmonton aren't the best designed, but the river valley does offer favourable trails. The worst trail in Edmonton that is suppose to be considered a bike trail is straight down 102Ave. with parked cars and a very narrow street.

The Pros of Edmonton

The green space in Edmonton is one of the best in Canada, featuring the river valley with well
maintained parks.
About Vegas

Sin City is open 24 hrs, 7 days a week with over 36 million visitors per year. Las Vegas is a fast pace non-stop city of entertainment where you can enjoy the nightlife or just relax by the pool. Take in the fun attractions, such as the Grand Canyon Tour to the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay. Las Vegas has a lot to offer but can be overwhelming if you’re not familiar with the fast pace of Vegas.

Plan Ahead

Enjoy your stay by planning as much as you can in a 3-4 day excursion. Vegas is not only for adults, but for the whole family with fun-filled packages at Circus Circus, Excalibur and New York New York. Don't try to visit all of Vegas in just one trip, plan to spend time at your hotel, go on a Grand Canyon Tour, shopping and maybe see a few other hotels. But the key is not to try everything at once. Vegas is way too big and requires a few trips.
A newcomer will try to see all the sites during their first visit and find it overwhelming after the second day. They find themselves stuck in traffic with the famous deuce bus system deuce bus packed like a can of sardines. Some will seek the Las Vegas monorail thinking this form of transportation will solve their problems.Las Vegas Monorail is faster but because the drop-offs are at the very back of the mega hotels, you end up walking just as much. But Las Vegas Monorail can be a quick form of transportation, starting point at MGM Grand to as far as the Sahara Vegas Station. The last thing you want is become caught up in the maze of traffic or bombarded by wall to wall people.

Vegas Tips

Las Vegas is like enjoying a glass of red wine. You don’t gulp down an expensive wine – you sip it slowly, taking in all the flavors it has to offer.
Here are some tips to help you out:
1. Plan to visit Vegas a few times with intervals from two to four days, preferably from Sunday to Thursday allowing for the best rates. Weekends are always busy with rising rates to suit the crowd.
2. Months before your trip, sign-up to various newsletters offered by Vegas Hotels.
3. Keep up on what other are saying on Vegas Reviews.
4. Plan a Budget that suits your lifestyle

Check your local Airline packages: You can spend from $600 - $3500 for two during 3-4 nights stay. Of course this includes airfare + rooms + flight taxes. This does not include user fees depending on the resort you’re staying.

Even though other resorts claim no user fees – you still are pay at least $65 per night – but just remember – you can’t use internet or fitness room without an extra charge with add on taxes. As long as you’re aware of extra charges and taxes, it won’t come as a surprise on your credit card later.

· Check out Las Vegas Resorts Promotions on Facebook or twitter

· Be aware meals are no longer dirt cheap in Vegas but they still are reasonable. For best value look for promotions like the All Day Buffets from $24.99 - $50 per person. Spending $80.00 per day for two is really not that bad considering you can spend as much as $300 per day for two. Take advantage of using your All Day Buffets promotions or holiday Buffet offers.
Imagine stranded on a tropical island with all the necessities at your finger tips. An Island full of fresh fruit easy for the pickings; like ripe red pineapple, golden coconut fruits, bananas, macadamia nuts and trees named breadfruit. An oasis of colourful flowers filling the air with a sweet aroma; the yellow hibiscus and torch ginger flower. The warm ocean breeze infuses your body with happiness and joy.

Your dream is wiped away as you feel the warm ocean waters trickle through your toes in the soft golden sand. The tide of Kahana Bay is making its way into the quiet beach cove overlooking a scenic backdrop of the Kualua Mountains.

All your senses are fulfilled with joy and contentment on the small island of Oahu. It’s hard to leave the tranquil beach; and to think this is just one of many stunning beaches throughout the Islands of Hawaii.
On Oahu there are a great selection of beaches to choose from.

Kawela Bay - has a beautiful long sandy beach with easy waves protected by the large surfs on the northeast side of O'ahu. Very popular beach.
Turtle Bay - close to the popular Bay Resort - Turtle Bay Resort offers excellent snorking with safe currents. A great place to get some serious suntanning.
Waimea Beach - is notorious for surfing due to "monster" waves. You need your watch your swimming suit on this one, a wave can whip off your suit so fast and with me, my snorkling gear was long gone in seconds. Watch the locals before entering these waters.
Ehukai Beach - is well known as the Banzai Pipeline due to the long curling waves. It is said that waves can reach as high as ten feet. This is one of the famous Northshore beaches which attracts world-wide surfing events.

Tropical Islands of Hawaii

Our final approach to Oahu in a Boeing 787 Dreamliner brought excitement throughout the cabin. Over 300 passengers were literally “pumped” with adrenaline as the large jet cruised over the Oahu, showing off a rich tropical island within the deep blue sea. This spectacular view has become a photographic imprint bringing a content smile encountering the glorious view. Our dreamliner jet touched down gracefully on the tarmac of the Honolulu Airport. Our senses immediately pick up the warm, humid climate. Stepping out of the plane we’re greeted with pleasant sunny tropical breezes coming off the Pacific Ocean.

Honolulu is located along the coastline bringing in two long seasons – summer and winter, with an average winter temperatures reaching a moderate 24 °C / 75°F. The summer weather varies slightly with 34 °C / 93°F boosting the prefect sun soaking temperatures; your typical beach weather.

Instead of hearing the normal hustling and bustle when someone goes to work, the atmosphere around you is full of happiness. The best way to describe it is by a recent study of Happiness written by Randolph E. Schmid of the Associated Press…
WASHINGTON – People in sunny, outdoorsy states – Louisiana, Hawaii, Florida – say they’re the happiest Americans, and researchers think they know why.

With this in mind, you can picture the content feeling we all feel when we are happy. Beginning your vacation in Honolulu will bring happiness to anyone. Reaching the busy city of Waikiki with ocean cruise liners docked along the inlet, your eye is curiously lead along the tropical

You can’t wait to indulge in one of the famous luau celebrations under the brilliant stars or dining in the mega five-star restaurants. Your days with be full filled with sunbathing along the North Shore while you watch the experience surfers cap the ocean waves precariously. It is exactly like what Jesse McKinley published in the New York Times…
Surfers at Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu in Haleiwa, Hawaii, on Monday
Published: December 7, 2009 WAIMEA BAY, Hawaii — By JESSE McKINLEY
The world’s best surfers are waiting for a once-in-a-generation wave here along the North Shore of Oahu, after dozens of them plunged into the churning waters on Monday, dodging rocks, reefs, and driftwood in waves rarely seen even in surf paradises like Hawaii — but still shy of the big one…

As anyone can see there is no shortage of things to do on Oahu.
The most inspirational memorable spot on Oahu is the USS Arizona Memorial Pearl Harbor.

Everyone stepping foot on this grand memorial structure is quickly reminded about the lost of 1,777 crewmen on December 7, 1941. As a group, you’re escorted by boat to the memorial structure spanning the mid-portion of the sunken battleship.

Walking through brings sobering thoughts of WWII and the lives that many Americans soldiers had met on this day in Dec. 7,1941. You begin to walk slowly in a funeral remembrance of the past. Your sober thoughts bring tears as you enter an open shrine room where the names of Americans killed on the Arizona, engraved on the marble wall.

As any artist you want to express this on canvas and so I began drawing what I saw. As soon as I reached home, I had to show my expression on a large canvas board - here you can see it for yourself.

Overall, Hawaii was a great time of happiness that I’m assured to return ever second year.
